The latest editions of APA and MLA use Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) as part of the bibliographic citation. You should use the DOI whenever possible as it is a persistent identifier.
The goal of this guide is to help you find the DOI for your reference citations. Specifically, this guide will cover:
- what DOIs are
- how to find DOIs
This guide will not provide information on how to cite in MLA or APA. You can refer to the Research 101 Guide or the OWL at Purdue website for specifics on citation. You can also contact the Writing center or Ask a Librarian for assistance with citations.
