In our instruction session, we used the initial term "incarceration." Let's review the steps we took.

• In the top search box, enter your initial term. We used incarceration.
• Add similar terms in the same box using or. We expanded our search to incarceration or imprisonment or jail or prison.
• Add a second idea to narrow your search results. We added inequality or disparity.
• In the third search box, we added a location to further narrow our results. We added united states.
