Before you perform in-depth research on a topic, it is a good idea to first get some background information. Library reference books (encyclopedias, guides, dictionaries) contain helpful background information across numerous academic topics, and are available for use on the Library's 1st Floor. 

The Library also has online reference materials through the Gale eBooks (see below). Please don't hesitate to ask a Librarian for help getting started with reference materials.
