In OneSearch and the EBSCO databases for example, you can limit your search by publication date or source type. Don't limit too soon! After you've looked at all the results for keywords and ideas, then try limiting.
You might want to narrow your search by age group, geographic location, or other aspect. We've added a third box to search by keywords related to an age group.
(Social alienation or social isolation or peer acceptance or peer relationship*) AND (nerd* or geek* or uncool) AND (teen* or Middle School Students or adolescen*)
DO NOT start your search by limiting your search fields because you may lose some useful results. Use the field limiters only if you retrieve too many results that aren't on topic. The Subject or Abstract (summary) fields may be useful for narrowing your search. In the example below, the age group terms will only appear in the field you select, such as the Subject or Abstract.
