Limiting Your Search

Limiting Your Search using the Tool Bars

In OneSearch and the EBSCO databases for example, you can limit your search by publication date or source type. Don't limit too soon! After you've looked at all the results for keywords and ideas, then try limiting.

Narrowing Results using Keywords

You might want to narrow your search by geographic location or other aspect. We've added a third box to search by keywords related sustainability.

Example 1:

fertilizer search

Example 2 with new keywords: solution* or resolution* or mitigation or remediation

Limiting Results using Search Fields

DO NOT start your search by limiting your search fields because you may lose some useful results. Use the field limiters only if you retrieve too many results that aren't on topic. The Subject or Abstract (summary) fields may be useful for narrowing your search.
