The Grads to Be Program staff at Fullerton College is committed to supporting undocumented students and have a passion for social justice. We hope that the information provided by our team will give you a better understanding about certain policies and how they affect undocumented students and their families. Each year twenty (20) students are honored and publicly recognized for their outstanding achievement at the Students of Distinction Awards Ceremony, sponsored by Student Life and Leadership. Each student who is selected to receive this prestigious award will receive a scholarship sponsored by Associated Students, Dr. Janet and Henry Emoto, Schlinger Students of Distinction, Fullerton College Faculty Wives, District Management Association (DMA), various donors from Fullerton College, and the Friends of the Fullerton College Foundation (funds may vary from year-to-year, depending on the availability of donations collected).

Limited funds. “The California College Student Emergency Support Fundhas launched to give one-time $500 hardship grants to students. Administered by Mission Asset Fund (MAF), the Fund is a statewide philanthropic response to address emergency needs for the state’s low-income college students, including undocumented immigrants, foster youth, and those who are housing insecure.”

The California Dream Act Application (CADAA) allows students who are AB 540 eligible to apply for certain financial aid programs in the state of California. AB 540 is a law that allows non-resident students who are living in California to pay resident fees at public colleges and universities in California. Eligible students may submit an online California Dream Act Application at https://dream.csac.ca.gov/ for consideration of state grants and the California College Promise Grant (CCPG).

To be eligible for California CalWORKs, you must be a resident of California, and a U.S. citizen, legal alien or qualified alien. You must be unemployed or underemployed and have low or very low income. You must also be one of the following: Have a child 18 years of age or younger, or Be pregnant, or Be 18 years of age or younger and the head of your household.

Provides assistance with borrowing textbooks for free. Program Eligibility
Be a California Resident or AB540
Be enrolled as a full-time college student (12 units)**
Have completed less than 40 degree-applicable units
Qualify for the CA Community College Promise Grant (CCCPG formerly the BOGG Fee Waiver)
Must meet at least 1 of these Educational Qualifiers:

No high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
High School graduates with a GPA of 2.5 or below
First-generation college student
Underrepresented student population
Current or Former Foster Youth
** Disability Support Services inquire about unit recommendations

Education: Completing high school or its equivalency and having a plan for pursuing post-secondary education.
Housing: Securing a safe, stable place to live.
Medical/Health: Obtaining regular medical examinations and securing medical insurance or completing the steps for maintaining Medi-Cal eligibility.
Permanent Connections: Establishing relationships with at least one safe, stable adult upon whom the youth can rely for emotional support and guidance.
Employment: Securing a job that will provide a stable source of income.
