The Umoja Community Program is designed to provide essential educational support and services to increase the academic success, retention, degree completion, and transfer rates of Black/African American and other scholars enrolled at Fullerton College. We accomplish this through monthly workshops/events, academic counseling, personal therapy, enhanced priority registration, textbook support, grocery gift card support and more. Our aim is to develop a sense of “community” among Black/African American students, other scholars, faculty, staff and administrators.

The Cadena Cultural Center has curated a Resource Document for Allies and Black folks for the campus community who would like to gain a deeper understanding of historical and present-day manifestations of anti-blackness and racism in the United States.

A²MEND Mentee Program
The African American Male Education Network and Development (A²MEND) Mentor Program provides support, guidance, professional development, and networking opportunities for A²MEND members as well as students enrolled within the community college system. A²MEND mentees are assigned to an administrator who has demonstrated expertise, leadership and scholarship within the California Community College system, and are committed to the personal development, professional growth and academic success of African American males. Mentees also have the opportunity to network with other mentees and mentors within the program through various personal and professional development programs and social activities.

Center funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Our academic home is the National Center for Primary Care, Morehouse School of Medicine. We are determined to help our field transform behavioral health services for African Americans, making them: Safer, More effective, More accessible, More inclusive More welcoming, More engaging, and More culturally appropriate and responsive. We will do this through collaboration, training, technical assistance, and a variety of written and recorded resources. Our efforts will be guided by: A distinguished Executive Advisory Board; An innovative Black Stakeholders Engagement Council reaching deep into the community, and A National Strategic Partners Group.
