Once you've selected your topic, a good place to start is OneSearch. 

In our instruction session, we started with the terms police officers AND recruitment. Let's review the steps we took.

• On the library homepage, enter your initial term in the OneSearch box. We used police officers.
• Expand to an Advanced Search.
• Add similar terms in the same box using or. We expanded our search to police officers or peace officers or law enforcement.
• Add a second idea to narrow your search results. We added recruitment. We also expanded our search by modifying our term and adding similar ideas. Additionally, we performed phrase searching by placing terms in quotation marks to indicate these words in this order. Our final terms in the second box were "employee recruitment" or "personnel selection" or hiring.
• In the third search box, we added a location to further narrow our results. We added united states.
