Finding Books, eBooks, and Articles

#1 -  Go to the OneSearch tab on the library homepage, and enter your main topic in the search bar.

Note: Connecting similar terms with the OR command tells databases to look for either or both terms. It broadens your search, retrieving more results or matches.

#2 - Narrow your search by clicking on Advanced Search and then adding an aspect of the main topic in the second search bar.

#3 - Limit results to just hard copy books, ebooks, or articles from magazines and academic journals by checking the appropriate boxes in the left column.

  • To borrow hard-copy books, check the Print Books box under Limit To 
  • To download chapters of eBooks, check the eBooks box under Limit by Source Type (click Show More to see all types).
  • To download articles from magazines and academic journals, check the Magazines and Academic Journals boxes under Limiter by Source Type (click Show More to see all types).

Just the Steps

#1 - Go to the OneSearch tab on the library homepage.

#2 - Enter your main topic in the search bar.

#3 - Click the link in the top yellow bar to log in for full-text access.

#4 - Click advanced search to open new search bars. Add a narrowing term, or an aspect of the topic, to the second search bar. 

#5 - Make selections in the left column to limit by source type:

  • Limit To: Print Books
  • Limit by Source Type: eBooks
  • Limit by Source Type: Magazines & Academic Journals

#6 - Click on the source title and:

  • If an article, look in the right column for links to download, print, or email the article with the APA or MLA citation.
  • If an eBook, click on the Table of Contents in the left column. There is a download button next to each chapter. Look in the top gray bar to print or email pages from the eBook with the APA or MLA citation.
