Important Dates and Deadlines:

Monday, October 7, 2024: Early voting sites open (limited) | County election offices will begin mailing ballots by Oct. 7.

Monday, October 21, 2024: Last day to register to vote online or by mail

Tuesday, October 22, 2024: Same day registration begins

Saturday, October 26, 2024: Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties 

Tuesday, November 5, 2024: Poll hours 7AM-8PM | Last day to vote by mail (Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 5 and received by your county elections office by Nov. 12.)

Ballotpedia is the digital encyclopedia of American politics. It provides unbiased information on elections, politics, and policy. It provides information on elections at all levels of government for current and past elections. This resource explains the ballot propositions, including what a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ vote on the proposition would mean, a summary of the propositions, its fiscal impact, and which parties, organizations, and officials support it.

Cal Matters-2024 voter guide

Cal Matters is a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information on California state news. This resource allows you to find your district by using your address. It will provide you with information on who is running for US House, State Senate, and State Assembly for your district. It displays the candidates and propositions supported by campaign finance contributors. It explains the different jobs available in government such as governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and controller. It shows an overview of what they do in government, how they are hired to the position, and how they are compensated.

Rock the Vote is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the political power of young people. Since 1990, they have encouraged each new generation to learn about politics and participate in government. This website provides information on registering to vote, what to do in a state runoff election, and how to get involved in elections.

What happens after you vote?

What happens after you cast your vote?

If you vote by mail, you can track when your ballot is mailed, received, and counted. You can also sign up for automatic notifications.

If you voted in person at a polling station, your ballot will be counted when you run it through the machine. You polling station/voting center will then report their results after the polls close at 8PM. Other types of ballots, such as provisional and write-in ballots, have different procedures.
