What can you do to limit the spread of false information?
	- If the story gets you upset or mad, ask yourself if the story is manipulating your emotions. Does it appeal to your emotions by playing on your pre-existing biases or to your logic with supported claims? Evaluate the content and make an informed decision.

	-  Use vetted sources. Scholarly peer reviewers or editors at reputable publications will evaluate, fact-check, and edit articles in reliable sources. You can locate articles in recognized, reliable sources by using the Fullerton College Databases.

	- Try to locate outside information about the source itself. Is it a well-regarded or biased source?

	- Read the entire article and evaluate carefully the content.

	- Multiple sources are better than one source so look for other sources that verify the claims in your original source.

	- Do not pass on or post a news story without establishing its legitimacy. When in doubt, do not forward or re-post it.
